March 15, 2013; Syracuse, NY: “Groups Rally For Anti-Trafficking Laws”
The New York State Anti-Trafficking Coalition and the Spanish Action League urged community leaders and state legislators to pass the Trafficking Victims Protection and Justice Act.

March 21, 2013; Austin, TX: “Truck Stop Points to Human Trafficking”
After Austin police pulled over a truck on a tip, the driver and passenger fled, leaving 13 people in the truck, some of whom were hidden in the back. The Department of Public Safety is now working with the US Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to figure out whether this is a human and/or drug trafficking case.

Michigan’s Attorney General Bill Schuette announced the creation of the Michigan Commission on Human Trafficking. The Commission includes lawmakers, activists and law enforcement working together to review current state policies, victim services as well as strategizing on raising awareness around the issue.

Police arrested an Australian man and a woman thought to be his accomplice inside their rented hotel room in Mabalcat City after receiving multiple tips that minor girls were frequently spotted coming in and out in pairs from that same hotel.
